Summary[]

Strawberry Shortcake and her friends re-tell the story of `Rapunzel', but with a twist. Princess Rapunzel is played by Rainbow Sherbet.

Rapunzel or "Rap" is a stubborn but sweet young princess. Her parents, queen and king of the land, worry about ensuring she grows to be an honorable and compassionate princess. They soon decide to send her off to a tower under the tutelege of Professor Grapes (Sour Grapes) who is a very respected royal tutor. There the Professor seeks to suppress Rap's more tomboyish tendencies. Growing her hair massively long is the first of these changes (such length is supposed to be "regal").

Overtime, despite her intelligence, Rap grows bored of a mundane and repetitive life in the tower. Every day, she lets down her hair to Porfessor Grapes and they begin their studies. Her imaginative thinking is not allowed. She begins to struggle between her true self and the stoic princess her professor and (seemingly) her parents want her to be.

But she welcomes a change in the form of Maid Strawberry (Strawberry Shortcake) and Squire Huckleberry (Huckleberry Pie). They hear her singing out mathematics lessons in the tower, and arrive to play. Strawberry assists with her violin-playing while Huckleberry teaches her scaling. Rap soon finds interest in marine biology and navigation.

The problem is, the kids are ordinary people. Sour Grapes soon notices "feudal" tendencies in Rap as she utilizes her knowledge. Grapes decides to hide in a bush after she leaves and sure enough sees Strawberry and Huckleberry arrive to play with Rap. Enraged, she forces them out and sends Rap to an isolated tower on an island.

Professor Grapes soon becomes caught in a storm. Her rickety boat is about to sink. Rap springs to action, cutting her locks off in other to make a raft. She rescues Miss Grapes and lands the two in the Port. Miss Grapes soon realizes the value of imaginative thinking and learning. Rap's parents put their anxiety to rest as they realize that the value of a monarch is in their good kinded nature. Rap is loyal, forgiving, respectful, resourceful, imaginative, humble and compassionate.
