Angel's neighborhood in Strawberryland is called Cakewalk, and is a frosting-coated layer cake testament to her abilities. In the 1980s rendition, Angel was said to be six years old. Her current age is never explicitly stated, but she is implied to be teenaged/a young adult age in her most recent incarnations. It is stated that she doesn't even know how to whistle as seen in the episode: Angel Cake in the Outfield.
Overly polite Angel Cake seemed to take the "Angel" portion of her name a little too seriously. Never missing an opportunity to say "please" and "thank you", she even went so far as to play the harp and wear a halo-shaped headband in her hair. Angel Cake's hair was often depicted as a lavender color in the greeting card illustrations and the cartoon, but the dolls and toys made by Kenner had white hair. Angel Cake imagined herself as having a weight problem, seeing as angel cakes are supposed to be "light", but was also seen constantly eating candy and ice cream. Her direct quote: "...If you don't think about it, the calories don't count." She adopted her pet skunk Soufflé as part of the action of Strawberry Shortcake's "Pets on Parade" adventure, and quickly put him on a "diet" as well.
This incarnation of the character of Angel Cake is very different from her original incarnation in the 80s. She even teamed with a different pet, a lamb called Vanilla Icing. The new Angel Cake is blonde and possesses a tremendous talent for cake decoration. However she is also known to be a perfectionist and can become rather ill-tempered if things don't go her way. She is super moody and gets mad at the littlest things but overall she is very sweet. She is voiced by Rachel Ware.
- She is a good cake decorator.
- She is sweet.
- She is a good cook.
The characters of the Strawberry Shortcake franchise have undergone several design changes. Angel's original 1980 appearance was altered drastically in 2003. It changed again in Year 4 of the DIC series' run.
Angel resembles a rag doll. She wears a golden halo with gold ribbons on it. Her hair is naturally lavender and short. She wears a white and blue dress with puffy sleeves with a few purple accents. She wears white and green striped leggings. Her hands are finger-less and she wears lavender shoes. She is also depicted with a golden harp.
Angel's appearance is that of a human. She has slightly curly blonde hair tied into pigtails by two purple bows. She now wears a white shirt with light purple stripes, and a small pink rose at the center, with a pair of blue jean overalls. Her golden halo has been replaced with white trimming, purple dots, and flowers. She wears purple shoes.
Angel wears a light purple and white striped shirt with a short dark purple jacket. She wears jeans with bow accents at the bottom. She has long, curly, waist-length blonde hair, while at the front are two pigtails held in place by bows. Her hat design has changed slightly, the hat no longer has the purple dots and only has one flower. She wears below the knee socks and wears plain purple shoes.
Her eyes are blue, her skin is white, and her hair is blonde in all of the series. (with the exception of the 1980's launch; her eyes are blue and her hair is lavender).
