This is the third special.

Premise[]

As Strawberry and Custard prepare to judge the second annual grand old pet-able pet show and parade, she attempts to help new friend Angel Cake find a pet to call her own too. But along the way, Sour Grapes and the Perculiar Purple Pieman plan to enter the show and frame Strawberry for cheating.

Summary[]

Mr. Sun greets the audience and welcomes them to Strawberryland. A special event is approaching, but Strawberry Shortcake tells the disappointed Custard that she isn't allowed to enter because she won the previous year. However, they were asked to be the judges. Cheered up, Custard joins her as they head outside to overlook the precious first prize for this year: a berry beautiful bike.

However, the Perculiar Purple Pieman plans on snatching it for himself. Hearing this, Strawberry asks Custard to hide it somewhere safely and she puts an old fountain in its place- causing the Pieman to be splashed when he attempts to make a grab for it. Angered by this, he grabs several of his pies and throws them at everything, then hides beneath a patch of grass. He decides to wait until everyone is distracted to steal it, but when this plan fails he decides to just enter the contest himself to win it.

As this is going on, Strawberry makes her way through the path.

The purple pieman gets to work on his plans when suddenly, his items he had been preparing fly away. A mean-looking woman steps off of a passing trolley and mocks him. Initially he demands to know who she is, but after she makes a sound he remembers and they decide to combine their forces in order to get rid of her once and for all; or at least make her upset.

At Sunflower Market, Strawberry and Custard observe various things until she gets distracted by a girl she doesn't recognize eating candy nearby. She approaches the girl to learn her name is Angel Cake, and Angel Cake explains that she is new to Strawberryland. Her formal speech earns a compliment from Strawberry, and she thanks her once more before sadly revealing that she doesn't have a pet. Strawberry asks if she would like one, and Angel confirms that she would, because she is lonely, and she offers to help her out. She suggests they have lunch first, although Angel refuses due to being on a diet. Although, she's allowed candy because the calories don't count if you don't think about them.

Elsewhere, the Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes have broken into Strawberry's home to steal her phonograph. While they initially appear to work together, they soon end up bickering over who the better villian is.

Meanwhile, Custard has made a friend of her own; a cute purple skunk who wants to stay in Strawberryland. The skunk doesn't appear to have a name, but would like to enter the pet show- although it lacks a kid to do that with. Custard wants to help, mentioning how hard it can be for some animals to find one when Strawberry calls for her. The parade will be starting and she has to go.

With that the talent competition arrives. Before Strawberry can announce the first contestant a strange man gives her a present. She tells him she cannot accept it now since she is busy but he gives her the signboard to sign so that she can accept her gift. She agrees to sign it while Pupcake walks on stage and performs cute tricks for everyone while the lonely skunk watching from the sidelines. Enjoying his performance, it copies him while Strawberry and Custard judge the act; Strawberry giving Pupcake an eight, while Custard gives him a zero. Strawberry scolds her for being jealous, and Custard changes her score to a six.

Soon Strawberry goes to announce the winner when the Pieman and Sour Grapes suddenly show up announcing that they entered the pet contest too, and they still need to take their turns. She allows it, seeing no harm, and their pets Dreggs the snake and a crow sing a duet. Strawberry is pleased with the performance until she happens to find her record player behind the stage and wonders how it got there. But when she realizes that their pets weren't actually singing, the Pieman quickly says that "they are on to "us"", this being himself, Sour Grapes, and Strawberry.

Shocked, Strawberry asks for a explanation, and they try to make it sound as though she is cheating to allow them to win the competition. While the others express concern, Angel remains assured that they are lying until he presents the unopened present from earlier. She opens it to find out that it was a picture of him, and he reads the tag, pointing out that it was a bribe gift that she accepted. By now everyone is frustrated with Strawberry, and despite her attempts at claiming innocence nobody believes her -not even Angel Cake- and she runs away crying.

Strawberry sits alone and continues to cry as the skunk follows after her. It manages to calm her down and perks her up by saying that at times like these, even if the odds are against her, she has to keep her best foot forward and return to town to set things straight. She agrees and with it, they return to the scene of the incident to find the Purple Pieman in the middle of trying to permanently turn her friends against her by claiming she always cheating. Angered by this, Strawberry threatens him with non-stop berry talk knowing how much he detests it, and he quickly surrenders, revealing his and Sour Grapes' plan. Sour Grapes angrily tells him off and proceeds to torture him with that strange sound from before, knowing he dislikes it and chases after him.

Strawberry happily decides to forget the whole ordeal and everyone comes to the decision to that the cute little skunk deserves the prize. But before she can announce him as the winner, Angel objects and brings up that the rules stated that only a pet who has a child who loves them can win. This disappoints the others until she adds that she already thought of a solution to this problem; she will love and adopt the skunk, who she decides to name Souffle. She asks Souffle to diet with her, and it eagerly agrees, so she hands it an ice cream bar as a reward. The bike is handed over to Souffle and everyone cheers before they begin preparing for the after party as the sun slowly begins to sink down, signaling that evening is approaching.

The following day, everyone happily sings a song as the movie ends.
