Custard is one of the characters from Strawberry Shortcake.
General Information[]
Custard is Strawberry Shortcake's furry, sweet, and cute pink cat in all her incarnations. In the 2003 show, custard can talk and sometime translates what Pupcake is saying since Pupcake doesn't talk. She is very sassy and sarcastic.
In 1980 and 2021, Custard is Strawberry’s only pet.
1980s[]
Custard was Strawberry Shortcake's pet who acted lazy. She talked in the episode Strawberry Shortcake: Pets on Parade.
2003[]
In the 2003 Series, Custard gained a notable change in character and personality.
Custard has a rather sarcastic sassy personality, and can now speak human language. She loves Strawberry very much, and likes to have days with her whenever she isn't busy. Custard also has a siblingly relationship with Pupcake, and can also translate his barks. Even then, she can get annoyed by Pupcake at times.
Custard's appearance was also changed. She is thinner and has pink stripes instead of spots on her fur.
2009[]
In the 2009 Series, Custard is once again Strawberry's trustworthy pet cat. She doesn't appear as much as in the 2003 series, only appearing occasionally in Series 1-2, in two episodes of Series 3, and very briefly at the end of a Series 4 episode.
She doesn't have much of a personality in this series, but she is very friendly and loves to play and rub on anything she likes. She sometimes points out things Strawberry misses out on.
Custard's appearance is changed once again, this time having the same body shape from the 2003 series, and the spots from the 1980s specials. She doesn't have much of a personality other than being like how cats normally are, and has also reverted back to being mute, as she only communicates by meowing.
2021[]
In Berry In The Big City, Custard is Strawberry's only pet, moving with her from Berryville to Big Apple City.
She once again received a personality change, now becoming somewhat skittish and nervous. She still loves Strawberry very much, and this is shown when she became very upset when she thought Strawberry forgot her birthday (much to Strawberry's friends' ire), which turned out to be the next day.
Her breed was changed, far different to the previous incarnations. She became a hot-pink, fox-like, slender cat with a few white spots. Custard once again doesn't speak, but still shows more signs of personality this time round.
