T.N.Honey is a minor character from Strawberry Shortcake. The character made her debut in the Strawberry Shortcake episode Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City for the first generation, and while she never appeared again in a TV special, she was featured in some greeting card artwork, with one featuring her with Plum Puddin'.
General Information[]
T.N. Honey, a brilliant British scientist, is a rather obscure character in the Strawberry Shortcake pantheon. "Big Apple City" marked her singular appearance in a Strawberry Shortcake cartoon adventure, but she did feature in a number of American Greetings card illustrations around this same period. She used her scientific expertise to repair Strawberry's oven when it befell sabotage at the hands of The Purple Pie Man at the Big TV Bake-Off. At the end of the "Big Apple City" adventure, T.N. is seen journeying to Strawberryland along with other newcomers such as Orange Blossom and Lemon Meringue. But T.N. Honey never appeared again in a TV special. Plum Puddin', Strawberry's other glasses-wearing friend, disappeared around this same time until 1984 when Plum Puddin' returned (albeit with his gender changed), filling the void of a "smart kid" in Strawberryland. T.N. Honey was voiced by Julie McWhirter.
Personality[]
T.N. Honey was a lot like Plum Puddin', brilliant and smart. But she preferred to invent and make things over reading and solving them. She is very modest, but not the least bit shy. While she loves to show-off her smarts, she always awaits permission before doing anything.
Appearance[]
T.N. Honey is a fair-skinned girl with small eyes covered by a pair of yellow glasses. We don't know her eye color due to the typical cartoon effect of glasses making her eyes look small. She has long hair worn in low pigtails held with small light red bows. On her head is a light tan-brown derby hat with a thick pink band and a smiley face flower on the side. T.N. normally wears an oversized collared shirt for a dress that is a vertical green stripe. She wears a brown vest over it, and a light yellow daisy floral printed tie. She wears the normal horizontal green stripe tights all of the berry girls seem to have and a pair of brown shoes with white spats. Sometimes she wears yellow and white striped tights.
In the Special, T.N. Honey wore white glasses, along with a plain pastel yellow tie and solid green shirt.
Trivia[]
- T.N. Honey may have taught Apricot how to speak, considering they both use big words. She may also be responsible for funding Apricot's apartment.
- In "Big Apple City", a poster of an old gentleman can be seen inside of T.N. Honey's home.
- Etymology: She seems to be named after the term "tea and honey".
- In a greeting card, there was an image of Plum Puddin' and T.N Honey together, implying a relationship between her and Plum Puddin'. Ironically they both vanished around the same time, though Plum returned two years later.
- She did not have a toy in her 1980s heyday but in 2020, the European company Altaya produced a first-ever doll of her, as part of their commemorative line of Strawberry Shortcake Vintage 1980s doll re-issues. Additionally, in the paperwork that came with this doll, she was retroactively assigned a pet, a bee named Bumble Tea (whose name comes from a pun on bubble tea).
- T.N. Honey is similar to Ginger Snap from the 2003 series due to her affinity for machines.
